Congress stages protest against hike in petroleum prices

JAMMU, June 25: Congress leaders today staged protest demonstrations against petroleum price hike.
Congress activists under the leadership of Raman Bhalla, Vice President JKPCC and Yogesh Sawhney, General Secretary JKPCC staged a protest demonstration against surge in diesel and petrol prices.
Many senior Congress leaders, Block Presidents, Ward Presidents including Kanta Bhan, Vice President PCC, DCC Vice President Ramakant Khajuria, Pawan Dev Singh, Sushant Gupta and others also participated in the protest.
Speaking on the occasion Raman Bhalla said, Congress has decided to hold mass protests at block levels as an attempt to awaken the Government to the hardships of the people.
“Continuously rising prices of diesel and petrol for seventeen consecutive days is increasing burden on common people,” he said demanding rollback of taxes on petrol and diesel to provide relief to common people.
Senior Congress leader, Yogesh Sawhney said that Congress will hold such demonstrations until the Government realizes it’s grave mistake and reverses its decisions.
Meanwhile, District Congress Committee Kathua led by its District President, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma also staged a protest demonstration against the NDA Government for hike in prices of petroleum products and other items.
The protesters assembled in front of DC Office Complex Kathua and blocked the road for few minutes. They raised anti-price hike slogans.
Former Municipal Corporation Jammu, Chairman and senior Congress leader, Satish Sharma flayed the Modi government at Center and said that it has failed on every front the result of which is that the price of oil is touching the sky today.
Satish said that today when the price of crude oil is so low in the international market, why is the Government is repeatedly increasing the excise duty?
He said if the Government does not reduce the price of oil without any delay, then in the upcoming Bihar and Jammu and Kashmir elections the people will express their resentment by not voting for BJP.
