Mandal, Oct 27: Member Parliament Jammu-Poonch Constituency Madan Lal Sharma stressed on the need for upliftment of weaker sections of the society.
While addressing a largely attended public meeting at Mandal in Samba Constituency, Mr. Sharma said that UPA Govt. led by Congress has allocated lot of money for ST, SC, RBA and OBC’s but unfortunately, it is not reaching to those whom it is required.
He also emphasized on the need for holistic development of under developed urban and rural pockets as water, sanitation, education and health are the basic rights of all sections of society irrespective of any distinction of caste, creed or colour. He asked the people to avail benefits under various Central and social protection schemes run by the Govt. He also directed the sectoral officers to guide people and ensure that they get benefit of such schemes. He also laid stress on social audit and asked the community leaders to monitor and keep close vigil on these programmes.
The MP directed the officers to make special projects of kandi and neglected areas so that such areas also get due share.Mr Sharma also felt the need of promoting communal harmony in view of prevailing situation. He said that India is a secular country and bonds of amity and brotherhood are very strong and every body should work to supplement the effort.
While elaborating the achievements UPA Government he asked the Panchayat members to link the people with social protection and development schemes as UPA Government has opened the gates of treasures especially for J&K. He asked the party men to gear up for the forthcoming challenges and popularizes the pro poor decisions taken by the UPA Government at the centre in the shape of bringing Food Security Bill, protection for the street vendors and Land Reform Bill etc.
Elaborating further Mr. Sharma said that Food Security Bill will provide subsidized ration to 75-80% people of the Country. Ensuring people rights to food by this Act, no one in the Country will sleep empty stomach. Mr. Sharma also informed people about the provision whereby land of a farmer can’t be acquired without his consent. He appealed the State Government to ratify these bills and implement in J&K on top priority for benefit of poor and needy. He maintained that the Congress is the only party which can move nation forward with secular image and credentials.
