SAMBA, June 12: Accusing BJP-PDP Coalition Government of neglecting religious tourism in the region, people in Ramgarh led by former minister and Congress’s leader Manjit Singh staged protest demonstration in Raika Morh area against the “deplorable and shabby” condition of roads.
The protesters blocked the road at Raika Morh for not repairing the damaged portions on Swanka Morh to Chamlayal via Swanka and Swanka Morh to Chang via Swanka roads. Amid shouting slogans against the local MLA and PWD, the protesters alleged that the religious places on border places have been ignored by the Government with regard to development.
During the demonstration, PCC general secretary addressed the protesters and alleged that the roads have been in bad condition yet the administration has turned blind eyes towards the concerns of the people. He said that the border tourism which is also known as ‘religious tourism’ in Ramgarh area has been facing discrimination from the present coalition which had claimed equal treatment to all the regions of State
Taking a dig, Mr Singh said, even as BJP is partner in the Government has kept mum despite knowing that famous melas going to be organized along International Border i.e. on June 25 at Baba Chamlayal and on June 28 at Swanka.
“The condition of roads is worse. One cannot ply vehicles on the damaged roads. Just few days have left to the famous melas in two places yet no repair work has been taken up by the administration putting people to the suffering,” Singh alleged.
He said that in view of bad condition of roads pilgrimage also hits. “The Government should order immediate repair work of the damaged portions of the roads to encourage religious tourism instead of working against it,” senior Congress leader said.
