JAMMU, Mar 25:     The Congress workers from Jammu West constituency today held a strong protest   against the supply of wheat by the CAPD instead of Atta in Jammu city.
A large number of Congress activists led by PCC general secretary Manmohan Singh and supported by many others  assembled at Gurha Morh, Bakshi Nagar Jammu and started protest demonstration. They were shouting slogans against the CAPD and State Administration. They were strongly opposing supply of wheat in ration depots instead of Atta as used to be supplied earlier.
The agitating party workers were  carrying banners in their hands  amidst chanting  of slogans against Government for its anti-people decision. They said that Wheat was not acceptable to the people of Jammu city.
While speaking on the occasion,  Congress leaders expressed serious concern over the supply of wheat grains in place of   Atta at the Govt depots in Jammu City and elsewhere in the State. They said that general public especially those who reside in urban areas cannot afford the long process of washing, drying and grinding the wheat grain. The people have refused to purchase wheat grain from the Govt ration depots, as today the residents of Sarwal did not allow authorities to unload  wheat at ration depot and returned the same to the  department.
They further said that the scale of sugar which was 750 gms per soul earlier has been reduced to 500 gms  which is also regrettable.  They demanded that Govt should immediately restore the supply of ration as per previous scale, in the larger interest of general public.
PCC vice president Kanta Bhan, general secretary Vikram Malhotra, DCC Jammu (U) president  Anil Chopra also addressed the gathering.
