KATHUA, July 3: The Congress activists held a protest demonstration at Chadwal against the PDD authorities for the power failure in Chadwal and adjoining border villages. They also torched the effigy of Deputy Chief Minister.
The protesters with banners in their hands were raising slogans against the department. They accused its officers of not attending to the problems of the people who are facing power crisis for weeks together. The protesters warned to intensify agitation in case the immediate steps were not taken to restore the transformer in Chadwal which has developed a snag over a week plunging entire area into darkness.
They said that recently a delegation of the farmers had visited Kathua and taken up the issue with DC Kathua but no action was taken to restore the power supply in the area.
They alleged that when the issue is being taken up with the engineers of the department they misbehave with the people instead of solving the problems.
The protests also demanded that the administration should maintain a vigil in the border area and restoration of power supply in the affected villages so that infiltrators from across don’t take advantage of darkness and sneak in the area.
