SRINAGAR, Dec 27: Militants this evening fired upon a Congress party worker at Ashtengoo village of Bandipora district in North Kashmir, injuring him critically.
Militants fired upon Bashir Ahmad Sheikh this evening at Ashtengoo in Bandipora. He was critically injured and was rushed to hospital for treatment. He is a Congress worker and was formerly a Sarpanch.
Sheikh has been shifted to Srinagar’s SMHS hospital for treatment where he is being operated upon.
The incident comes two days after militants killed a man at Behrampura village of Sopore in Baramulla district.
Army this afternoon opened fire in air after noticing suspicious moment at Jabalipora in Bijbehara in Anantnag district.
The firing created panic in the area and people around fled towards safer places. In the meanwhile, police fired in air at Lassipora area of Pulwama district this evening after two persons, who were travelling in an auto rickshaw, fled after being asked to stop.
Militants this evening fired at the house of Peer Mohammad Shafi, brother in law of former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed at Acchabal in Anantnag district. The guards deployed at his residence fired back and militants fled under the cover of darkness. Security forces immediately rushed to the spot and searches were launched.
