JAMMU, Dec 27: A three week inter disciplinary refresher course in human rights for University and college teachers, organized by Human Recourse Development Centre, (HRDC) in collaboration with the Department of Law, concluded here today.
Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof R D Sharma was chief guest at the valedictory function and he distributed certificates among the successful candidates. In his address, the VC called upon the teachers to create more awareness for human rights in their institutions in particular and in the society at large. He also highlighted the necessity for holding such courses for understanding various sensitive issues confronting the society in the contemporary times.
Earlier, Prof Naresh Padha, Prof Arvind Jasrortia and Dr Sanjay Gupta apprised the Vice Chancellor about the different areas of study covered during the three week long course. Ashok Bhan (Ex DGP), Nayeema Mahjoor (Chairperson Women s Commission, Mubashhir Latifi (SSP Crime), Pradeep Dutta (Bureau Chief Times Now), Sheikh Shakeel (eminent Lawyer). Prof Kulwant Singh, Prof Manoj Dhar, KB Jandial (IAS), GR Gani (IAS) Prof S K Sharma ( Ex Member Information Commission) were prominent among others who delivered lectures during the UGC refresher course.
