Cong warns Govt to wake up on alarming spread of dengue

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Oct 8: Taking serious note of the total mishandling and callousness of the State health authorities so far to deal with the alarming situation emerging on account of spread of dengue disease, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee has given a wakeup call to the Government to immediately understand the gravity of the situation and take all sorts of required measures in this regard to save the human lives.
Reacting to the large scale reports and the feedback from the concerned people, Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma Advocate said that situation is very alarming than being reported in the media and the disease has spread in various parts of the city and other areas of Jammu province but the authorities are in deep slumber and adequate measures have not been taken so far to check its spread and deal with the situation.
He strongly criticized the non-serious and casual approach of the Government towards the grave situation and there are still no serious efforts being made, in this regard. There are large number of patients being treated and referred to Ludhiana, Amritsar and various other private hospitals. The number of patients at Government Hospitals and in private clinics has shown that the diseases was spreading very fast in urban and semi urban areas. But the minimum Government efforts in this direction are not visible even in city areas which shows the total lack of concern by the Government to the serious situation.
There are some cases including deaths on account of Swine flue also, which is also a matter of concern. Before the situation goes out of control, the Government should wake up and involve the entire machinery and resources to deal with the situation, otherwise the Government would be solely responsible for the loss of precious lives, he added.
