*Bhalla, Sawhney among scores detained

JAMMU, Mar 6: After BJP Govt took no cognizance of unprecedented hike in petroleum products, District Jammu Congress Committee today took out funeral procession of LPG cylinders against BJP Govt over continue hike in the prices of petol, diesel and LPG making life miserable for all sections of Society.
Congress leaders on behalf of crores of affected and aggrieved people, beat their chest to wake this insensible Govt from its deep slumber. Today’s protest at Gurha Bakshi Nagar and 4th Tawi Bridge- Belicharana was organized by Vijay Sharma, vice president Congress Sewa Dal and Rajesh Sharma DCC general secretary and was led by former ministers Raman Bhalla, Yogesh Sawhney, senior leaders Balwan Singh,Manmohan Singh,Suresh Dogra, Gurdarshan Singh, Sunny Parihar, Raman Matoo and others, who led funeral procession in presence of hundreds of party activists to show their utter resentment against BJP Govt.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said that rise in cylinder prices has most hit the poor. People were already reeling under the impact of a rise in prices of essential commodities and the Goods and Services Tax (GST) has further added to their woes.
“Fuel prices have put extra burden on people and have disturbed their budget. But the Government is taking no measures to control the prices. There is outcry among the public and the Government should take immediate steps to ease the tension,” he added.
He said the woes of the common masses were compounding with every passing day due to misdeeds of the NDA Government.He said every section of the society, be it farmers, students, women and youth, was facing hardship of the wrong policies being propagated by the NDA government, headed by the BJP. He regretted that in a democratic system, the BJP-led NDA Government was trying to gag dissent voice by adopting oppressive means and added that alienation among young generation was increasing with every passing day due to wrong policies of the NDA Government.
Meanwhile Sawhney, Manmohan, Bhalwan Singh asked Central Government to reduce petrol and diesel prices with immediate effect to give relief to the common man from the unbearable astronomical hikes in petroleum products this year. They said petrol and diesel prices had been increased by 24 times in 2021 itself and petrol and diesel prices had been hiked by Rs 6.87 per litre and Rs 7.10 per litre in the last fifty days alone.
