JAMMU, Apr 13: Veteran Congress leader Dr Karan Singh has completed his six-day election campaign in support of his son, Vikramaditya, the Congress candidate for the Udhampur-Doda Parliamentary Constituency.
During his tours, he addressed over twenty public meetings in eight assembly segments-Udhampur, Reasi, Chenani, Ramnagar, Kathua, Hiranagar, Billawar and Bashohli. He was greeted with great affection where people recalled his four terms as MP from this constituency.
Thanking the people for their response, Dr Karan Singh urged them to similarly elect Vikramaditya to the Lok Sabha and give him the privilege of representing the region and the state in the highest forum of the nation.
He appreciated Dr Farooq Abdullah’s support and commitment to empower Regional Councils for each of the three Regions- Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
He reiterated that the Congress stood for the principles of socialism, secularism, pluralism and federalism as enunciated in the constitution and would oppose any dilution or distortion of these foundational values.
