RS PURA, Sept 2: Congress Party leaders and activists held strong protest against National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP) being implemented by the Centre and continuous hike in price of LPG, petrol and diesel at the border township of RS Pura in district Jammu today.
The protest was organized by DCC Rural, Jammu led by Hari Singh Chib and Miran Sahib and RS Pura block units. Senior PCC leaders, Mulla Ram and Raman Bhalla were leading the protest.
Congress leaders expressed resentment against the BJP-led Government at the Centre. They alleged that BJP Govt has put all the assets of the country on sale and moreover, the increasing prices of LPG cylinder by Rs 50 in last one month and sharp hike in the prices of diesel and petrol has broken the backbone of the people who are facing worst economic condition due to locks downs and Covid situation.
They alleged that Modi Govt has exerted massive tax burden on the people and the public has been badly crushed due to inflation. With the ever rising prices of LPG, petrol and diesel, every sector has been affected.
Congress leaders further alleged that the Modi Govt was undoing the achievements of the past 75 years. It is the right of the opposition to raise their voice against unjustified decisions of the Government. They accused Modi Government of privatizing railways, banks and other sectors.
Senior leaders Raman Bhalla and Mulla Ram addressing media after the protest claimed that Modi Govt is selling everything. They said Modi Govt is preparing to raise about Rs 6 lakh crore by leasing out Government infrastructure assets like National Highways, Railway routes, stadia, warehouses, power grid, pipelines to the private sector for earning huge money. They slammed the Central Government’s move to make money from its assets in key sectors, saying the Modi Government’s “crown jewels” made in the 70 years of previous Governments were public money.
They further alleged that the Government is not paying any subsidy on LPG cylinders and there is no difference between the market and controlled prices. On the much-touted Ujjwala Yojna, the reality is that beneficiaries of the scheme cannot afford a cylinder at Rs 1000 at a time when 97 per cent of people are earning less than what they were three years back.
District president, Jammu Rural, Hari Singh Chib also spoke on the occasion and launched scathing attack on Modi Govt for selling country’s assets.
