Mir, Bhalla, Shabir among others arrested

RAJOURI, Mar 30: As a part of its ongoing anti-BJP campaign, Congress Party held strong protest demonstration against the unprecedented hike in prices of petrol, diesel and other essential commodities in Rajouri town here today.
The protest was organized by DDC Vice Chairman, Shabir Khan and led by JKPCC chief GA Mir, party vice president Raman Bhalla, chief spokesman Ravinder Sharma, former legislator Ashok Sharma, DDC Members Sain Rasheed, Quoom Mir and joined by senior leaders besides hundreds of party workers.

The Congress workers holding party flags and placards, raising anti-Government slogans, strongly condemned BJP Govt over sky-rocketing prices of various essential commodities. Many leaders including Mir, Raman Bhalla, Ravinder Sharma, Shabir Khan and others were arrested by police and shifted to District Police Lines, when they were taking out protest rally towards DC Office Rajouri. They were, however, released in the afternoon.
Earlier, addressing garthering PCC chief urged upon the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to pay urgent attention as the public was suffering badly. He said that the BJP’s claim of providing ‘pro-people’ governance stand exposed as Central Government has failed miserably to address the issues affecting the general public. He castigated the BJP Government, saying that the common man is going through the worst sufferings under the current dispensation, which has sold its soul to few businessmen, ignoring the agonies of the countrymen.
Mir said that the country is presently going through a state of crisis. The graph of the inflation is on a constant rise, the fuel prices have touched the sky and tens of lakhs of the farmers across the country are protesting for repeal of three farm laws aiming to snatch their right over their own lands. The victims of these three issues are the common men, the countrymen who are the true sons of the soil, Mir said.
Former minister Raman Bhalla said that Union Government should restore statehood to J&K without any delay as it would pave way for resumption of democratic processes. He said people are already reeling under severe pressure of economic depression, coupled with the prevailing pandemic. He said country is going through a difficult time. Every section of the society, including farmers, traders and Government employees were fed up with this “anti-people” dispensation. He urged the people of J&K to get rid of the “anti-people” BJP Government in the State in the next Assembly polls.
Senior leaders- Shabir Khan, Ravinder Sharma, Ashok Sharma and others also addressed the gathering.
