Cong- NC responsible for J&K turmoil: Randhir

JAMMU, July 21: State president of NCP and former Minister Thakur Randhir Singh, today said that controversial actions of Congress and National Conference are responsible for problems in J&K.
Mr Singh in a meeting of the NCP here today alleged that Roshni Act enacted during the regime of Ghulam Nabi Azad in the State only benefited the rich people of Jammu tehsil and not the poor. He said the J&K High Court has passed several strictures against this Act and also against many other but it is unfortunate that no action has been taken so far. Mr Singh said Late Mufti Mohd Sayeed with whom he worked as senior Minister for years was a good administrator, pragmatic, secular and is responsible for ousting a family rule of Shiekh Abdullah, his son Dr Farooq Abdullah and grandson Omar Abdullah who made the J&K the second most corrupt State in the country and to some extent responsible for the present turmoil in the State.
Mr Singh said there were more than five opposition MLA’s of Jamait-e- Islami led by Sayeed Ali Shah Geelani and Mr Singh was Minister and Mr Geelani was MLA for 10 years together during G M Sadiq tenure and same numbers of MLA’s from Praja Parishad led by Late Pandit Prem Nath Dogra, there was no such problem like today in the Valley. Mr Singh said NCP is concerned over situation in the Kashmir valley where 46 persons, including three women were killed , many laid down their lives and over 3500 others were injured since July 9.
Mr Singh advised Mehbooba Mufti Chief Minister of J&K State to overhauled the police and administrative set up where most of the officers are not properly functioning.
He appealed to the new Chief Minister to strengthen the State Accountability Commission which was constituted by her Late father Mufti Mohd Sayeed.
Mr Singh demanded that all the corrupt ex-Ministers, legislatures, bureaucrats and politicians who have grabbed forest land and are involved in various scams and polluted the political atmosphere in the State be immediately tried like other states and be sent to jail.
