Cong leaders organize parallel function, pay tributes to Dogra

JAMMU, July 17: Indicating clear factionalism still existing in the Pradesh Congress, some of the Congress leaders including former ministers and legislators, today organised  a parallel function in connection with 100th birth anniversary of former J&K Finance Minister and top Congress leader Late Girdhari Lal Dogra.
While the official function was held at the Party headquarters, Shahidi Chowk here, under the chairmanship of PCC  chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir in which former Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad was the chief guest, the other parallel function was held at Gandhinagar under the leadership of Ex-MP Janak Raj Gupta.
All the senior Congress leaders including Th Hari Singh, Gulchain Singh Charak, R S Chib, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Arvinder Singh Micky, Ashok Sharma, Amolak Singh, Prem Sagar Aziz, Jagdish Sapolia, Chuni Lal Bhat, Hukum Chand, Brij Mohan Sharma and former DCC/ BCC members and Corporators, paid tributes to Late G L Dogra  and described him as an eminent freedom fighter, epitome of simplicity and the leader of masses.  His long and outstanding contribution can not be forgotten by the people of J&K State.
The Congress leaders expressed their surprise and anguish that the organizers of this function from G L Dogra Memorial Trust at JU did not take care of inviting the prominent and senior Congress leaders who happened to work with him in different capacities. It is more surprising that even some of those associated with the Trust right from its creation were not invited.
While highlighting the functioning of Congress party during the time of G L Dogra, the present set up of Pradesh Congress came under severe criticism by the speakers in the function at Gandhinagar. The leaders were critical of the Pradesh Congress for not organizing this function in befitting manner, when a tall Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad was the chief guest.
It was almost unanimous feeling of the speakers at the function that the present tainted and inefficient set up is thriving and surviving on policy of manipulative politics. They alleged that those sitting at responsible position in the PCC are determined to create dissentions and disharmony within the rank and file of the party, making party further ineffective, which has already being routed out during the last Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the State.
There is  deliberate attempt on the part of some party leaders holding responsible positions to encourage workers/ leaders from opposition parties  who have worked against the official candidates of Congress during 2014 Assembly elections.
These leaders described it shocking to misguide Congress high command by present PCC leaders by sending wrong feed back, which they said is going to be detrimental to the strength  and growth of Congress in the State.
They once again, passed a resolution seeking immediate intervention of party high command to save the party in the State, so that communal politics of ruling alliance in the State could be countered effectively. They expressed full faith in the leadership of AICC president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi and sought their much needed intervention to control any further damage to the party.
