JAMMU, Aug 4: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) today launched an online five days campaign ‘Speak up Jammu and Kashmir’ urging people and youth to join over the effects of abrogation of special status and disbanding and downgrading of historical Dogra state into UT.
Disclosing this to the media-persons at a press conference here today, JKPCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma along with general secretary Manmohan Singh said that the online campaign shall continue till August 9, when formal notification was issued by the President of India in this regard.
He said party has posed four main questions to the BJP and the Govt at the Centre, which were described as the main things to be achieved while abrogating special status and disbanding of State. They were end to terrorism and restoration of normalcy, creation of lot of jobs in Govt and private sector, including 50,000 jobs in three months, complete check on corruption, and flood gates for development and industrialization.
Questioning the ruling BJP, he said that after one year the party asks whether terrorism has died down and normalcy restored; what has happened to the the promise of providing large scale jobs in the Govt and in the private sector; result oriented achievements to check corruption and massive action against corrupt and where are flood gates for the development and progress of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said the people would share their views whether they have achieved these targets post abrogation and down-grading of the historical Dogra state into UT and when the statehood which was disbanded and downgraded against the wish of the people, would be restored with safeguards for the protection of jobs and land to local youth of J and K, as promised by BJP.
Countering claims in this regard, he said as far as the issue of normalcy in Valley is concerned, imposition of curfew in entire valley from today and extraordinary security measures in entire UT, continued restrictions and lack of any routine political activities along with ongoing restrictions on restoration of 4G, are the indicators of the failures to achieve normalcy even after one year.
On the issue of employment, he said against the promise of filling up 50,000 jobs in three months, not even 50 jobs could be provided so far and even the already ongoing selection process which was started prior to August 5 last year, was nullified with a view to make the outside youth eligible through the new domicile law.
The issue of corruption is still a matter of concern for all as common people find it difficult to get their routine works done without greasing the palms of `Babus’. On the issue of claim of opening flood gates of development, even routine development activities could not be resumed while Toll after Toll on existing highways have been installed contrary to the promises of BJP, Sharma added.
