Cong laments omission of Nehru’s photo from Govt advertisement

HYDERABAD, Nov 14: Congress Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao today sat on a dharna in protest against the alleged omission of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s photograph in a newspaper advertisement released by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development.
“The advertisement released by Maneka Gandhi’s ministry (Women and Child Development) in some newspapers had the photos of only the President and Prime Minister.
“Nehruji was Prime Minister for 17 years. He was a freedom fighter and went to jail. He initiated public sector companies, irrigation projects and promoted science. They are trying to finish his legacy,” Hanumantha Rao said.
The alleged ommission of Nehru’s photograph in the advertisement amounted to an insult to the 125-crore population of the country, he said.
Rao, who sat on a dharna at a statue of Nehru here at 10 AM, said it would continue till 5 PM, adding he would organize protests at all schools if the “practice” continued next year too. (PTI)
