JAMMU, Mar 29: Congress has damaged Jammu province and its people more than any other political party and it is time for the marginalized and discriminated against people of Jammu to teach the Congress a befitting lesson by inflicting a crushing defeat on this party.
This was stated by BJP Candidate for Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary Constituency & State President Jugal Kishore Sharma while addressing a series of public meetings at Sadyal, Khara, Mandal, Purmandal, Utterbehni in Purmandal today.
He said the Congress also flirted with anti-democratic forces in Kashmir valley and hampered the process of democratization to deprive the people there of the fruits of Indian democracy. The ongoing separatist movement in the Valley is the fallout of the negative politics the Congress which was given a practical shape by NC, he added.
He said the Congress-led Government in the State not only rejected all the nation-centric and people-centric bills like on National Flag, secularism and socialism, delimitation and refugees from West Pakistan and PoJK but also on the demand seeking Wazir Commission report that had recommended three new districts of Samba, Kishtwar and Reasi for Jammu province and one more district Bandipora for Kashmir. Jugal said the Congress Government not only rejected the demand of the BJP for the implementation of the Wazir Commission report but also created four districts in Kashmir Valley through an executive order despite the fact that there was no demand for more districts in Kashmir province.
Sharma said that the people of Jammu province, who have been suffering owing to the discriminatory policies being persuade by the Congress and its ally, cannot forgive the Congress in particular as it has all along sided with forces which described Jammu and Kashmir as a disputed State and consistently complicated Indian things in Kashmir. He said that it has been bartering the National interest by hobnobbing with parties like NC and the Muslim League and dividing the society and pitting one community against another for vote bank politics.
Expressing his disgust over the neglect of the Purmandal area, Sharma said that the ruling coalition has not considered it a part and parcel of the State and added that the people of the area are denied even the basic civic amenities. He said the roads are in a shambles, health-care and education facilities almost non-existent and the people get power supply only rarely. He said the life of the people of this area is not one of political and economic aspirations. “I am fully aware of the miserable plight of the people of Purmandal and I reassure you that the BJP will pay a special attention to the area so that the grievances of the people are redressed,” he added.
