SRINAGAR, June 5: J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) today demanded a month-long session of Jammu and Kashmir Legislature saying the usual 10 to 15 days duration were not enough for discussing all the problems faced by the people of the State.
“Members of the Legislative Assembly or Legislative Council must get the opportunity to put forth their views and to debate the issues threadbare in the August house, so that issues of every nature can be addressed. The Government should have a session of at least one month,” JKPCC chief Ghulam Ahmad Mir said in a statement.
Mir praised former Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad for fast track construction of Assembly Complex, which is fully equipped with all the facilities. Knowing that Members would not able to discuss everything during short session former Chief Minister got the construction work of complex done on Fast Track basis, just to give opportunity to the Members to identify the problems with regard to people and Development of State, for their resolution.
JKPCC chief said that no Chief Minister of the State except Ghulam Nabi Azad could manage to complete the construction of much needed Assembly Complex in Srinagar.
