JAMMU, May 8: Expressing satisfactions over the stepped up efforts of the Lt Governor and his administration to come upto the challenge of Covid-19, after several laxities and initial lapses at various levels and demanded that the cause of more percentage of casualties as compared to the number of infections, in Jammu region, needs to be ascertained to minimise the loss of lives.
JKPCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma while speaking on behalf of the rank and file of the party, said that the senior leaders of the party are in touch with each other taking feedback about the ground situation in different parts while the covid committe constituted by the JKPCC President GA Mir as per directions of AICC, is closely monitoring the situation.
The committee members comprising vice president and former minister Raman Bhalla, general secretaries Balwan Singh and Yogesh Sawhney besides he himself , took stock of situation and said that the recent efforts of the LG administration to cope up with the severe challenge needs to be recognised that it has realised the gravity of the situation,of late and initiated certain necessary measures to improve the handling and dealing with the worsening situation taking toll of precious lives.
Though it is matter of satisfaction that the LG too personally visited the Jammu hospitals after the visuals of the suffering patients were shared by the media persons and the people with oxygen cylinders, while the Hospital administration and Health authorities remained in denial mode and the contrary picture was depicted in public through about the availability of beds and oxygen. This is most unfortunate in this situation and the Health authorities should not hide the reality and come out with true’picture as not the doctors but the higher authorities especially the Centre Govt is squarely responsible for the lack of timely action and the required monitoring for the creation of required facilities in time, failing which it is resulting in to loss of precious lives and huge sufferings to the people.
The LG and Chief Secretary would do well if they open more doors of information and inputs about the real situation on the ground than the official or limited channels only. The more channels of information would help the higher ups to know the truth as the administration is away from the public representatives especially the opposition, who could have given them the real picture and impartial feedback.
The party leaders and cadres suggested that the government should immediately speed up vaccination of all above 18 years, step up vaccination in rural areas at local levels by setting up centres at Panchayat levels, prevent the source of spread of the disease by arranging vaccination in the centres and places away from hospitals especially covid hospitals and testing centres, take the help of army to control the situation well in time including in vaccination and testing process, carrying of patients from far of places and even carrying bodies and their disposal etc.
