Cong committed to serve, empower people: PCC chief

SHOPIAN, Nov 15. Congress Party is credited with having granted district to apple town Shopian aiming to empower people, besides ensuring facilities on their door steps. The party has also vigorously worked towards developing Shopian, which has great significance given its famous apple industry and the topography.
JKPCC chief Vikar Rasool Wani made these comments while addressing a party workers’ meeting in apple town- Shopian today.
Wani said that people of Shopian shall never forget about the Congress Party’s remarkable move to grant district and ensure that the public enjoy every facilities at their door steps for which earlier they had to travel to erstwhile district headquarter Pulwama for redressal of their grievances and resolution of other problems.
“Since J&K has no elected Govt in place for the last several years, the issues of public importance and the developmental needs have gone unheard, despite that BJP Govt claims to have done development in J&K particularly after downgrading full-fledged State into two UTs,” Wani said and adding that till the elections are held and people elect their representative, who could hear them and solve their problems, the real development is a distant dream.
But unfortunately, BJP Govt at the Centre doesn’t want the democratic process to be restored thereby keeping people at the mercy of bureaucracy.
Wani congratulated party workers for their resolve and enthusiasm towards strengthening the party in Shopian. He took the opportunity of workers’ meeting to appeal people to come forward and support Congress in its endeavours to safeguard their just rights.
PCC leader said Shopian district has a great significance given its famous apple industry and topography. Congress Party feels committed to put in its strenuous efforts to ensure that people of J&K live a dignified life and enjoy fruits of democracy, for that matter, the Party shall vigorously deal with the challenges and defeat BJP’s vendetta and divisive policies.
Senior vice president of JKPCC Mohd Anwar Bhat also addressed the meeting and highlighted various challenges confronting Congress workers in Shopian,
JKPCC vice president Fayaz Ahmad Dar, general secretary Anayatullah Rather, DCC president Mohd Yousuf, Maroof Ahmad Wani, Reyaz Manhas, Muzaffar, Firdous Wani, Showket Ahmad Bhat and various other leaders were also present on the occasion.
