JAMMU, Oct 8: Making a scathing attack on Congress, Union Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Anurag Thakur today said the party which talks about women’s rights in the Parliament and advocates for 33% reservation to them has failed to give ticket to a single female candidate in Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Leh, elections.
Addressed eight public meetings in the election campaign in Leh today, he said this shows anti women mentality and attitude of Congress party and its claims on women’s rights are totally hollow as party has not given mandate to a single woman candidate in the LAHDC, Leh elections.
Thakur said in comparison to that BJP is wedded to the welfare of every section of society including women and keeping this in view the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has given the slogan of “Sabka Saath and Sabka Vishwas’’. PM Modi worked for development and welfare of the people in far-flung and backward parts of the country like North East and the same pattern is going to be followed in Ladakh now. He is going to fulfill every demand of Ladakh, and now it is the turn of Ladakh to strengthen the hands of Modi by ensuring victory of BJP candidates in the upcoming Hill Council elections, the Minister added.
Maintaining that Modi Government is protecting interests of Ladakh and is committed to its holistic development so that it should not lag behind from other parts of the country, he said promoting Education, Health, Infrastructure, Road, rail, air connectivity and working on world-class promotion of tourism in this region is an indication in this regard.
Thakur said China was also baffled after seeing the keen interest taken by Modi Government in development of Himalyan region and it has understood that the development of Ladakh is the dream of PM Modi which is troubling it more. “China knows and has understood that the development of Ladakh is the commitment of PM Modi and now this is troubling that country most’’, he added.
He said the cause of China’s trouble is not only the border area roads and bridges in Ladakh but also entire development of UT. Roads are being built here, several schemes are being implemented to promote tourism, Leh Airport is being modernized, new terminal building is being built here which will be based on modernity as well as the art and culture of Ladakh, which worries China, he added.
Anurag Thakur said, “Ladakh is the crown of India and Prime Minister, Narendra Modi is committed to safeguarding the interests of Ladakh and its people. Modi’s six years reign is full of achievements and among the achievements, making Ladakh a Union Territory is a special one. With the formation of a separate Union Territory of Ladakh, the campaign to fulfill people’s aspirations has now become faster. The Modi Government is committed to provide more facilities than the Sixth Schedule to the people of Ladakh and to preserve the land, culture and unique identity of Ladakhis. The journey of development of self-reliant India is incomplete without Ladakh. If there is even a slight tension on the border, then Prime Minister Modi does not sit in his house in Delhi but instead comes to the border and stands with the Army, with the people of Ladakh, it shows Modi ‘s love towards Ladakh and Ladakhis , he added.
Anurag Thakur also reached the Thiksey Library and Cultural Center of Tibetan tradition in Leh and visited the ancient Tibetan art, literature and culture there. He received his blessings by offering courtesy to Buddhist scholar Thiksey Khanpo Rinpoche.
