JAMMU , Apr 14: Various political and social organizations have welcomed the decision of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to extend the lockdown by May 3 to take the nation’s fight against the dreaded Corona virus to a logical conclusion.
Congress said that extension of lockdown by the Prime Minister today is on expected lines as the need was realized by all including Chief Ministers and entire opposition, in view of the advise from health authorities but regretted that other measures and issues raked up as per various experiences during the period, have not been adequately taken care of, while extending the lockdown.
Reacting to the announcement today JKPCC, chief spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma said that it was almost agreed by all to fight the Corona Virus hand in hand with the Government and follow the advisories of the Government but there were various areas of concern and attention, which the Government was suggested to take care of but has not happened today. He said the stranded people including labourers, students and others, struck up in different parts away from their homes are in great distress, in the absence of adequate money, provision of food and ration, inadequate Government support so far.
BJP spokesperson and chairperson of Waqf Development Committee of Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi has welcomed the decision of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to extend the lockdown in the country till May 3.
In a statement issued today she said that the decision was the echo of the aspirations of the nation to fight the killing virus. “We all need to adhere to the restrictions more strictly than before as we are now passing through the critical phase of the fight which will decide the fate of the nation”, said Dr Andrabi.
Terming the decision of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, to extend the countrywide lockdown, as a right step towards containing spread of dreaded Coronavirus, Chairman PDF, Hakeem Yaseen has said there was no other effective alternative available in the entire world, to fight this dreaded virus except maintaining social distancing that too religiously.
In a statement issued today Hakim Yaseen has made a fervent appeal to the people to bear with the Government at this crucial time and stay at home , notwithstanding the fact that continuity in lockdown has put a cross section of the society into a terrible but unavoidable socio-economic and psychological situation.
J&K BJP spokesperson, Balbir Ram Rattan said the decision to extend country wide lockdown till May 3 as an effective mean to ensure social distancing in fight against spread of Corona Virus.
In a statement issued here, today Balbir said in fact it is a further step to make people follow restrictions more aggressively as the coming days are challenging and need more precautions and care. The people should take it as their duty towards nation to fully co-operate with the Government and abide by the advisories issued in this regard, he added.
The Kashmiri Pandit Sabha (KPS) has welcomed the lockdown 2 measure announced by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi upto the 3rd of May. The Sabha president, K K Khosa in a statement issued today has appealed the people to not only meticulously observe the lockdown but also further spread the awareness amongst the citizens about the inevitability of continuing with this step in order to succeed in the fight against the Pandemic. Strict and timely measures undertaken by the GoI under the visionary and statesmanlike leadership of Narendra Modi supported by the State Governments has resulted in containment of the dreadful disease to a great extent, he added.
Peoples Revolutionary Forum (PRF) chairman, Mir Ghulam Rasool Butwani while welcoming the decision of extending the Lockdown up to May 3 announced by PM, Narendra Modi said it is the only alternative to fight the dreaded virus. He said people must know the gravity of the situation and maintain the social distancing at all costs.
Mir in a statement issued today however urged the UT Government to ensure that no person from Red Zones is allowed to enter the other areas as it mars the basic purpose of lockdown. Though the Government created barriers on roads or highways but people from Red zones manage to enter other areas through agriculture fields and secluded footpaths which should be checked for the safety of common man, he added.
Pir Panchal president and Director Sharda Radio, 90.4 Ramesh Hangloo has also welcomed the decision of the Prime Minster, Narendra Modi in extending the lockdown to May 3 and appealed all to cooperate with the Government at this critical juncture.
In a statement today he said maintaining social distance is the only alternative to defeat the deadly virus and Sharda Radio has also been advocating the same through its various programmes.
Former Minister, Thakur Randhir Singh and national president Aromatic Plants Growers Association of India (APGAI) welcomed Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s decision of extending the lockdown across the country till May 3 to fight the Corona Virus Pandemic.
In a statement issued today he said the measure has produced a significant outcome in containing the pandemic. Singh said the Prime Minister has adopted holistic approach in dealing with the crisis to contain the pandemic as compared to many developed countries.
Mast Nath Yogi, State unit president of Janata Dal Secular (JDS) and Ram Rattan Sharma secretary general welcomed and supported the announcement of lockdown in the country till 3rd May and directions for not coming out of the homes. Mast Nath Yogi and Ram Rattan Sharma appealed to the people to adhere to the advice of the Prime Minister so that there is minimum loss of precious lives.
Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) chief, Kundan Kashmiri while welcoming the decision of PM Narendra Modi to extend the lockdown said entire nation should join hands with him to take the fight against the Corona Virus launched by the nation to logical conclusion by defeating this dreaded Pandemic.
