JAMMU, July 3: Taking a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for befooling the masses by mere sloganeering, the Congress party today asked the former to come clean on scrapping of controversial Articles 35-A and 370 of Constitution of India, which guarantee special status to the Jammu & Kashmir.
While addressing the meeting of District Congress Committee (Jammu Urban) members here today, DCC president Vikram Malhotra pointed out that the BJP has fought two consecutive Parliamentary elections by declaring to scrap the controversial Articles 35-A and 370 if they win elections but later they didn’t pay heed to the same and keeping mum over these issues.
He also asked the BJP leadership to clear their stance on delimitation of Assembly constituencies in Jammu & Kashmir well before announcement of elections in the State. He said BJP must clear their stand on all these important issues, which have great impact on the future of the State and the country.
“They should come clean and give specific time frame that when they will start their process to resolve these issues,” Malhotra said.
“There is a Presidential notification on Article 35-A and the BJP should not use these issues as mere election slogans,” he maintained.
Besides, expressing grave concern over the plight of the people of Jammu during these hot summer days, DCC chief urged the Governor’s administration as well as the Department of Power Development not to enforce unscheduled power cuts in the region.
He further urged the Government to take further steps to resolve prevailing power crisis in the State, especially in the Jammu region, which is under the grip of harsh summers.
