JAMMU, Aug 22: State president All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBCs Organisations, R K Kalsota today demanded special provisions for the development of vulnerable sections of the society.
In a press statement Kalsotra appealed to the Governor and PM throwing light on the current situation in the State. He said that various political and social activists are put under house- arrest. Their views and opinions are significant in the time when state is going through a turmoil. He urged the Government to release these activists as soon as possible so that they can also contribute to the process. All those who are not involved in terrorist activities should be released, he said.
Kalsotra further shed light on the formation of various committees which are being set to assess the situation and bring changes in the state. These committees should involve all the stakeholders in the process of deciding the future of the State. The amendments done at the Central level should be implemented fully in the UT so that all those who have been denied rights, reservation, etc can get full access to it. These amendments include Amendment 77th, 81st, 82nd, 85th. National Commission for SC/ST/OBCs should also be set up in the state besides extension of reservation to OBCs, which is 27% at the Centre level.
There is also a concern regarding the Development Plan, which the government is talking about. The youth of J&K are educated but they lack opportunities. The big industries should give opportunities to the unemployed youth of the state. The youth belonging to SC/ST/OBC, Refugees & Valmiki Samaj which are vulnerable sections should also be included in the process of development by making special provisions and protecting their rights under some special clause. The development process should have special provisions and clauses for the vulnerable sections in the new UT, he demanded.
