Conduct DPC, solve issues of employees: Som Nath

UDHAMPUR, Feb 18: Demanding early conduct of Departmental Promotion Committee meeting, remove shortage of staff and ensure regularization of daily rated staff, the employees of Public Health Engineering department held strong protest demonstration at Udhampur today.
A large number of workers/ employees from various areas like- Chenani, Latti, Ramnagar, Pancheri, Tikri, Majalta, Mansar, Khoon, Jib Thathi, Jaganoo, Krimochi etc , under the banner of PHE Employees United Front (Udhampur), led by senior Trade Union leader, Som Nath assembled at PHE Complex, here and held strong protest demonstration. The employees were shouting slogans in support of the demands of the employees and workers. They also shouted slogans against the higher authorities in the department and the UT Administration.
While addressing large gathering, Som Nath strongly criticized the State authorities for denying hard earned wages to the workers for the last 58 months. He said that daily rated/ consolidated workers and their families are facing starvation. The workers are unable to pay even the school fee of their children. The daily wagers/ ITI Trained/ Land cases/ CP workers are struggling for their regularization since long and despite commitment of the Govt, they are being ignored, he regretted.
He demanded conducting of DPC of all cadre in time. He said that DPC should be held at least twice a year. He also demanded to remove shortage of staff at various water stations, PHE offices and change the designation of the employees as per the nature of job they are performing.
Som Nath sought personal intervention of the Lt Governor J&K UT, GC Murmu into the matter and said that their pending issues should be given sympathetic look by the UT Administration.
Prominent among others who addressed gathering included – Dinesh Kesar, Shamsher Singh, Karan Singh, Shambu Dutt, Raj Kumar Sharma, Kulbhushan Bhat, Manmohan and Abey Ram Smayalia.
