JAMMU, July 10: The condolence messages on the untimely demise of S D Rohmetra, Editor-in-Chief, Printer, Publisher and Owner of Daily Excelsior continue to pour in from different corners of the country on sixth day today with people terming his demise a great loss to the journalist fraternity in particular and society in general.
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) J&K has expressed profound shock and grief over the sudden and untimely demise of Mr Rohmetra whom it termed a veteran journalist and a nationalist by core.
The Sangh said the way he established the Daily Excelsior and took it to heights by not only making it a leading newspaper in the State but gave it a name in North India deserves all appreciation. He was known for his impartiality and fearlessness in journalism. His demise has created a big void, which can’t be filled for a long time to come.
On behalf of RSS J&K, Brig (retd) Suchet Singh its Prant Sangchalak salutes Mr Rohmetra and prays almighty to grant peace to his eternal soul and courage to bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
In his condolence message from Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, Dr Ronak Nazir Kaul said Mr Rohmetra was world known journalist. Terming SDR a kind human being he said, the late journalist was an embodiment of affection and love. Recalling his first visit to Daily Excelsior with his article on ‘Prospects of Dentistry’, Dr Nazir said without any delay Mr Rohmetra smiled and advised him to modify the write up and mail it to Excelsior and in the next issue it was published.
Dr Nazir said SDR was always ready to help any one and his demise is a big loss to Indian journalism. He prayed for the peace of departed soul and courage to bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
Bhai Kanahiya Jee Nishkam Seva Society, Nanak Nagar Jammu, chief organizer S Mohinder Singh has expressed his profound grief over the sad demise of Mr Rohmetra. He while expressing condolences to the bereaved family and staff of Daily Excelsior termed SDR’s demise a personnel loss.
S Sudershan Singh Wazir, president Sikh United Forum, J&K has expressed his profound grief and shock over the demise of Mr Rohmetra.
Terming Mr Rohmetra a doyen of journalism who has put his entire life for the betterment of the people he said SDR always highlighted the problems of the people through his newspaper by making it a mouthpiece of masses.
He said his demise has created a big void, which will not be filled for a long time to come and the readers of Daily Excelsior will miss him a lot.
S Narinder Singh president Shiromani Youth Akali Dal, J&K has also expressed his grief and shock over the sad demise of Mr Rohmetra and said the void created by his demise will not be filled up for a long.
S Paramjit Singh president AISSF J&K has also expressed its profound grief and shock over the demise of Mr Rohmetra and termed it a great loss to journalist fraternity and civil society of Jammu. He expressed his deepest sympathies with bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace of departed soul.
Maj Gen (retd) Rajinder Singh Jamwal president, Dharmarth Trust J&K has also expressed his profound shock and grief over the demise of Mr Rohmetra whom he termed a towering personality and a veteran journalist. On behalf of the Trust Maj Gen Jamwal expressed his sympathies with bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace of departed soul.
Sudanshu Sharma from Medanta –The Medicity, Gurgaon Haryana has also expressed his profound grief and shock over the sudden and untimely demise of Mr Rohmetra. In his condolence message Mr Sharma said those who stay far away yet close to the heart may not be able to express the pain felt within. He recalled the contributions of Mr Rohmetra towards the health sector and said he will be always remembered for the same.
Akhil Bhartiya Gujjar Mahasabha (ABGM) has also condoled the sudden demise of Mr Rohmetra. Eshfaq –ur- Rehman Poswal State president ABGM J&K said his organization shares the pain and grief of the bereaved family.
He said demise of Mr Rohmetra is a great loss to the society. Terming him a man of vision, Poswal said SDR always stood with the cause of oppressed and suppressed.
Suman Partap Singh, Youth Congress leader Kishtwar has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the sudden demise of Mr Rohmetra whom he termed a pioneer in the field of journalism.
A K Kharu, State chief of All India Forward Bloc while expressing his profound shock and grief over the demise of SDR said he always stood for the cause of displaced Pandits in highlighting their plight. He said Mr Rohmetra was a visionary journalist who maintained high qualities of professionalism and never compromised on his principles.
National College of Competitions (NCC) Kachi Chawni and J&K Montessorie Senior Secondary School Talab Tillo Jammu have expressed its profound grief and shock over the demise of Mr Rohmetra an icon of journalism.
Offering their homage to the veteran journalist the two institutes expressed deepest sympathy with bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace of departed soul.
NSUI in its meeting under the chairmanship of Randeep Thakur, its ex president of Kishtwar unit has expressed profound shock and grief over the sad demise of Mr Rohmetra.

All India Chogga Mahajan Biradri Jammu held a condolence meeting here today to mourn the untimely and sad demise of Mr Rohmetra. The meeting, which was presided over by its president Dev Raj Gupta and attended by Dr Savita Gupta, Devinder Gupta, Nand Kishore Gupta, M M Gupta, Satish Gupta and others expressed heartfelt condolences to bereaved family. The meeting also prayed for the eternal peace of departed soul.
Nami Dogri Sanstha (NDS), in a condolence meeting expressed his profound shock and grief over the sad demise of Mr Rohmetra. The meeting which was held under the chairmanship of its patron S S Anand Lehar the Supreme Court advocate, observed two minutes silence in memory of departed soul. Those who were present in the meeting included Prof Anupama Sharma, the patron Youth Wing, Dogra Harish Kaila, president, Nami Dogri Sanstha, Mohan Lal Komal its vice president. The meeting recalled the contributions of Mr Rohmetra.
All J&K Guru Ravi Dass Sabha in a meeting of its Executive Body and prominent members has expressed profound grief and shock over the demise of Mr Rohmetra. The meeting was chaired by Vijay Lochan. It observed two minutes silence as s mark of respect to departed soul.
Abdul Gani Goni, former Speaker J&K Assembly has also expressed his shock and grief over the demise of Mr Rohmetra with whom he had a long association. Mr Goni in his condolence termed Mr Rohmetra a good fried and veteran journalist. He expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

NMC chairman Subash Shastri has also condoled the demise of Mr Rohmetra. In his condolence message Shastri recalled services of SDR and Daily Excelsior in highlighting the problems of working class in the State. He said Mr Rohmetra through his Daily became the voice of trade unions in the State.
Former Minister and senior NC leader Ram Paul has also expressed his profound shock and grief over the demise of Mr Rohmetra and termed it a great loss to the State in general and Jammu region in particular. Mr Paul chaired a condolence meeting in memory of Mr Rohmetra today. The meeting observed two minutes silence as a mark of respect to departed soul.
Former PYC senior vice-president Ajay Tony also expressed deep shock and grief over the sad demise of SDR.
Amar Singh Club Employees Union has expressed its deep shock and grief over the demise of SDR. The union in a meeting expressed sympathy with bereaved family and prayed for the peace of departed soul.
