JAMMU, June 8: Doctors of Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar performed a complex Gynae-Onco Surgery on a 35-year-old patient.
“The patient was admitted in the hospital with the complaint of chronic abdominal pain with a history of last five years, besides being a severe Anemia patient after she got no respite from anywhere. After getting admitted to Gandhi Nagar Hospital, the patient’s performance status was effectively built up for one month with blood transfusion, diet and medication and finally surgery was planned keeping in mind the complex nature of the disease,” a release issued by the hospital stated.
The release said that almost five such surgeries of complex nature have been performed till now from last four months but this surgery was one of the most challenging surgery because both the ureters were completely stretched over Ovarian mass and densely adherent to ovarian mass. Surgery took around five hours to complete and finally no intra operative complications.
The team of doctors which performed the surgery include Dr Samita Bhat (Gynae Cancer Surgeon), Dr Atul Gupta (Senior Gynaecologist), Dr Usha Bhau, Dr Mamta Kalsi, Dr Asha Manhas, Dr Madhavi.
As per the hospital release, such major surgeries were only possible with the unflinching support of administration of Health Department, especially Medical Superintendent Dr Chander Prakash and Director Health Services Jammu Dr Sameer Mattoo who always ensure that free healthcare facilities of such nature reach to all the citizens, especially the poor and downtrodden who cannot afford costlier surgeries of such nature.
