Raman Suri said 79 kanals of wheat had been damaged in Bishnah and Ramgarh alone in just one day and during past over a week more than 600 kanals of fields have suffered damages due to short-circuits. Appreciating the alertness of villagers and fire-tenders that helped extinguish fire thereby saving other fields, the BJP leader said PDD officials should take notice of these accidents and set wires and transformers in order so that such incidents don’t happen.
Villagers of Arnia, Bishnah, Pind Charka, Pindi Camp Nandpur and Chak Tara besides Saidgarh have suffered maximum damages due to fire incidents. Raman Suri urged Governor to despatch officials from Revenue besides Agriculture Departments to the site so that a list of farmers and their damaged crops is made before compensating their losses.
He asked PDD officials to not to take these accidents lightly as just a spark due to loose and hanging wires reduces had work done by farmers goes to ashes. It takes months to cultivate fields and water crops besides taking care of same before harvesting but such incidents leaves farmers broke and shattered.
Raman Suri said the Government must compensate these farmers now and make arrangements in such a way that if damages are caused due to negligence of PDD then the onus must fall on the department and it should be made to make payments to the farmers. This way the officials of PDD will not adopt any casual approach and ensure that transfers are stationed away from crops and loose and hanging wires tightened to avoid spark that triggers fire in fields.
