JAMMU, Mar 12: The Government today constituted a committee to study the impact of pollution caused by the pesticide units of Industrial Growth Centre (IGC), Samba and the Industrial Units of Industrial Estate Govindsar (Kathua), on overall environment, agriculture, horticulture and vegetable production of the surrounding areas.
Managing Director, SIDCO is the convener of the committee while Prof Raj Kumar, HoD, Department of Environmental Sciences, University of Jammu, Dr VK Bali, Head, Division of Fruit Science, SKUAST, Jammu, JN Sharma, Environment Engineer, State Pollution Control Board, Bulesh Zutshi, Plant Protection Officer, Agriculture Department, Jammu and an expert nominated by Director IIIM, Jammu, are the members of the Committee.
The Committee shall submit its report to the Committee on Environment, State Legislature, within a period of one month.
