KATHUA, Jan 18: Deputy Commissioner Kathua has constituted a committee to revise the fare of passenger vehicles in wake of repeated fall in petrol and diesel prices. The move is aimed at lessening the burden on passengers and students.
The committee will examine, review and formulate fare for various routes and types of vehicles plying on these routes.
Regional Transport Officer, Kathua, Nazir Ahmed Sheikh will head the committee having Assistant Commissioner Revenue Suraj Parkash Rukwal, SDM Hiranagar Sohan Lal, SDM Basohli Gurmukh Singh, ARTO Saleem Manhas and Exn PWD Kathua as members.
The committee will formulate fares for various routes and furnish report by January 27 for necessary notification. Public views and comments have also been solicited and the committee will also consult various stakeholders including transport unions, students, PRIs, officials of various departments, oil companies and general public.
Strict instructions have also been issued to Transport Department and traffic police to check and monitor 50% concession for students and physically handicapped.
