Commissioner JMC directs officers to take sanitation of city as challenge

JAMMU, Jan 18: Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Ramesh Kumar held a meeting with the officers and directed them to take sanitation of the city as a challenge.
Commissioner issued instructions to the concerned officer for taking steps for installation of composting machines in bulk generator establishments like hotels, banquet halls and fruit/vegetable markets which would help in minimizing the accumulation of waste and added that compost so generated be used as manure in the municipal parks.
He directed the health officer to utilize the men and machinery available with Corporation for maintaining sanitation and cleanliness within the limits of JMC. He stressed for door to door collection of waste and segregation of waste in all the wards of JMC and also impressed upon the concerned for ensuring better scientific cleaning and its disposal including transportation after proper segregation. He also directed the health officer to maintain proper attendance of sanitation staff so that there can be no laxity in providing proper sanitation to the inhabitants of the city.
Commissioner further stressed upon all the officers to take sanitation of the city as a challenge and come up with a road map so that same is deliberated and action is taken on the actionable points.
He also appealed the general public to extend their helping hand to JMC in maintaining the proper sanitation and also to achieve the goal of Swachh Bharat Mission so that Jammu city can become a Smart City in the real sense.
