BANGALORE, Aug 5: A group of 25 students and teachers hailing from various colleges of militancy-hit Rajouri and Poonch Districts of Jammu and Kashmir arrived in the city today on a two-day visit to know the technological advancement of the country.
On their arrival, they visited the Headquarters Karnataka and Kerala Sub area and met Major General AK Singh.
They visited ISRO, HAL and Infosys Campus to know the development in fields of space science, aviation and information technology besides progress in urban development.
They had an interaction with cricketers Anil Kumble and Javagal Srinath at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
All these students were on their first visit outside their native state.
Mr Umer Farooq, a student of class 12 and a resident of a remote village in Rajouri District, said ‘It is a rare opportunity for us to have seen these leading industries and research organisation of our country’.
The tour will also instill a sense of awareness on national integration amongst the touring students for a better unity in diversity.
The tour was organised by the 38 Rashtriya Rifles of the Indian Army, a defence department release said. (UNI)
