NEW DELHI : The Rajya Sabha was disrupted for the fifth consecutive day today over the issue of alleged government interference in the CBI investigation into coal blocks allocation with the Opposition BJP demanding resignation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
The Opposition’s uproar led to adjournment of the House twice, — first till 1200 hrs and the second time till 1400 hrs.
When the House re-assembled at 1200 hrs, the Opposition BJP members were on their feet, demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister and the removal of Law Minister Ashwani Kumar on the alleged government interference in the CBI probe in coalgate.
Raising slogans like ‘Pradhan Mantri istifa do, Kanoon Mantri ko barkhast karo’ (Prime Minister should resign, sack the Law Minister) and ‘Sharm karo, Sharm karo’ (Shame, Shame), the BJP members entered the well.
Amid chaos, Deputy Chairman P J Kurien called for laying of the papers and tabling of special mentions. When uproar persisted, he adjourned the House till 1400 hrs.
Earlier, the House witnessed same noisy scenes by the Opposition as soon as it met for the day.
