Sir,
This has reference to the news item ‘CM for freezing costs, specification before taking up new projects’ DE May 18.
The Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has rightly advised the concerned departments to execute developmental works within a time frame. Recurrent delays, it has been seen not only cause inconvenience to people, but also is a burden on State exchequer. Various projects like Patnitop Ropeway project have become financially unsound due to delay in execution of work. Had the project taken off at the specified moment, by this time it would have been completed, and there would not have been cost escalation. The concerned departments must study the feasibility of a project in detail before giving the nod for its execution. Once work is started, then there should be no breaks in the event of legal wrangles or financial problems. All precautions must be taken beforehand.
The suggestions as made by the Chief Minister must be taken into account by the agencies responsible for developmental works.
Yours etc….
Amit Khajuria
