Sir,
This has reference to the article ‘Political leadership crisis in Ladakh’ DE May 18.
There is no doubt that Ladakh has witnessed leadership crisis after the demise of veteran Bakula Rinpoche, as no one from the present generation leaders has fulfilled the aspirations of people here.
If the region is lagging behind educationally, or economically and has not kept pace with the rest of the country, the buck stops with present leadership who have not been able to project demands of Ladakh region.
Even now if the leadership understands the plight of the region, much of the lost ground can be retrieved. The leadership has to be sincere, and honest in its dealings with the people. They should keep their promises made with people during election time. Mere promises would not do miracles for people. Deeds speak louder than words. The youth of the region are restive, as they do not see employment opportunities in the region. Tourism is the only sector which provides succour to the people to some extent.
The onus is on Ladakhi leadership to highlight the grievances of people at proper fora, and seek their redressal at the earliest.
Yours etc…
