JAMMU, Apr 22: CME & Update in clinical Haematology was held here today at Government Medical College.
The update was organized by Post Graduate Department of Pathology, GMC, Jammu with active co-operation of Faculty members, residents, and paramedical staff especially.
The inaugural ceremony was held in the auditorium of GMC Jammu. Dr Ghansham Dev, Principal, GMC Jammu, was the chief guest on the occasion while Prof RK Arya was the guest speaker.
Dr KK Kaul, Prof and Head of the Department of Pathology, presented the welcome address. In his address, Dr Kaul highlighted the contribution of Prof Arya in the field of clinical Haematology. He said Prof Arya has worked in many prestigious institutions of India and abroad. Besides at GMC Jammu earlier, Dr Kaul also worked in SKIMS and AIIMS New Delhi. He worked as a reputed Haematologist in Kuwait and as advisor to Ministry of Health Kuwait Government.
Dr VK Dubey, former HoD Pathology, GMC Jammu and Dr Arvind Khajuria, Prof and Head Pathology, ASCOMS, also spoke on the occasion.
Prof Arya gave a series of lectures on some interesting and rare cases in clinical Haematology having diagnostic dilemma.
The second session shall continue tomorrow in the department of Pathology where slide discussion of difficult cases in Haematology shall be held. This Haematology update has been very fruitful for post-graduates of Pathology, Medicine, Paediatrics and other clinical specialties.
Heads of Faculty, Faculty members, senior residents and Post Graduate students besides paramedical staff and clinicians from GMC and Associated Hospitals, Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Sarwal and other health institutions of Jammu city, were present.
In the end on behalf of Department of Pathology and GMC, a memento was presented to Dr Arya by Dr KK Kaul. Dr Deepti Mahajan, Assistant Prof, presented vote of thanks.
