KATRA, Apr 23: The Department of Haemato-Oncology at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital organized a CME-cum-workshop on bone marrow examination on Thursday.
The program, themed “Advancing Diagnostics & Techniques in Bone Marrow Evaluation,” highlighted the importance of precision in diagnosing hematological disorders.
The workshop was graced by distinguished dignitaries including Dr Yashpal Sharma, Executive Director, SMVD Institute of Medical Excellence; Dr M M Mathavan, Facility Director, SMVD Narayana Superspeciality Hospital; Dr Kuldeep Singh, Professor and Head of Pathology Department, SMVD Institute of Medical Excellence; and Dr Jyotsana Suri, Head of Department, Pathology, Government Medical College Jammu.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Yashpal Sharma emphasized the importance of continuous medical education, noting that such initiatives are vital to keep pace with evolving diagnostic techniques, enhance clinical skills, and ultimately improve patient outcomes.
A key highlight of the event was the hands-on training session on bone marrow biopsy, which provided valuable practical exposure to participating doctors and healthcare professionals. The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation and was widely appreciated for its practical relevance.
Dr Deepika Gupta, Organising Secretary of the CME and Consultant Hemato-Oncologist & Bone Marrow Transplant Physician, highlighted the growing significance of the Hemato-Oncology department. She emphasized that with the rising burden of blood disorders and cancers, specialized units play a crucial role in early diagnosis, precise treatment, and comprehensive patient management, thereby improving survival and quality of life.
The program concluded successfully, receiving positive feedback from attendees for its academic value and hands-on learning experience.
