JAMMU, July 4: The Chief Minister’s Secretariat has sought time bound report from Secretary to the Government, Health and Medical Education Department regarding closure of Department of Gastroenterology in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu and subsequent attachment of Head of Department (HoD) Dr Showkat Chaudhary.
The Chief Minister’s directions followed after a delegation met her and sought resumption of Gastroenterology Department and restoration of Dr Choudhary as its HoD on the ground that closure of the department and attachment of the HoD is illegal.
In a communiqué to the Secretary to Government, Health and Medical Education Department, Additional Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Pankaj Kumar Sharma said the Secretary Health will examine the issue and submit a factual report to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat at the earliest.
The Chief Minister sought the report after the delegation which met her alleged that the people were suffering due to closure of Gastroenterology Department in the GMC Jammu and attachment of Dr Showkat Choudhary.
