CM judgemental about Gool incident: Dr Jitendra

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, July 26: Reacting sharply over Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s statement over Gool incident, Dr Jitendra Singh, National Executive Member and chief spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said that it is not expected of the Chief Minister to make judgemental statements.
He said that the preliminary inquiry points to contrary conclusions and the investigation report submitted to Union Home Ministry by the Special Director General BSF Dilip Trivedi maintains that BSF along with the State Police was compelled to open fire in accordance with the “Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)” laid down for the safety of security personnel and weapons.
“CM’s statement alleging that BSF had opened fire first injuring civilians and after which people gathered in protest gives the impression of being biased and motivated”, he added.
He appealed to the ruling coalition leaders from the National Conference as well as Congress to avoid competitive politicking at the cost of security forces because this demoralizes the forces and is fraught with dangerous consequences.
Chief Minister should take cognizance of the unprovoked firing incidents on the Line of Control (LoC), repeated infiltration attempts of terrorists, pumping in of counterfeit currency and drugs and resurgence of foreign sponsored terrorist groups like the Lashkar-e-Tayaba and Indian Mujahideen (IM), Dr Singh added.
