SRINAGAR, May 18: Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, today inspected the newly-allotted premises of the Directorate of Information & Public Relations (PR) near Polo View, at Sherwani Road.
The complex was earlier with the J&K Public Service Commission, which shifted its offices to the new complex at Ram Bagh, last year.
Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Gazzanfar Hussain, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Lone, Director Information, Muneer-ul-Islam and Chief Engineer, R&B, Kashmir, Satish Razdan, accompanied the Chief Minister.
Mufti Sayeed went around the premises and issued immediate directions to the Chief Engineer, R&B, to begin renovation-cum-restoration work of the media complex so that it is made functional at the earliest. He also called for landscaping and beautifying the lawns of the premises.
The Chief Minister said that the new premises should come up as an integrated media complex with various offices of the Information Department including the Directorate, the Public Relations Wing, Field Publicity Wing, Cultural Wing, Audiovisual Wing, Research and Reference Wing, Youth Information Centre, Women’s Information Centre and other related sections operating at one place.
Pertinently, the complex had suffered damages in September 2014 floods.
The Chief Engineer, while briefing the Chief Minister, said the work on the renovation of the building and landscaping will commence shortly so that the Directorate of Information & PR can shift to its new office.
