CM dodges Rangers to visit Zero Line

Police had to proceed very tactfully on the International Border during the visit of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to extreme forward village of Nanga in Ramgarh sector, which was located on Zero Line in Samba district.
Omar, who today became the first Chief Minister to visit the last village on the IB in the recent times during shelling and firing from Pakistan, had to shun all security vehicles excepting one while traveling to the border area to meet the people living there to avoid his movement getting detected by the Pakistani Rangers, who could have targeted the VVIPs.
Sources said Omar and Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand were seated in one private vehicle driven by NC provincial president Devender Singh Rana while only one vehicle of security followed them during their visit to Nanga post.
“The more vehicles on the border would have attracted attention of the Rangers,’’ sources said, adding the VVIPs took the grave risk to visit zero line to meet the people at Nanga in Ramgarh sector of Samba district.
Sources said all forward villages visited by Omar including Nanga and Avtaal in Ramgarh sector, Chakroi and Abdullian in RS Pura sector and Pargwal island in Pargwal sector were clearly in firing range of Pakistan. All these villages have witnessed heavy shelling and firing during the past 10 days.
