CLUJ commemorates Energy Conservation Day

JAMMU, Dec 14: Department of Dean Students Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu organised an online Webinar to commemorate World Energy Conservation Day under the patronship of Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu.
Prof BK Bajaj, Director, School of Biotechnology, University of Jammu, was the resource person for the webinar.
About 100 students and teaching faculty from PGI Schools of CLUJ participated in the webinar.
Dr Bajaj deliberated at length on the topic Energy Conservation and Potential of Biomass as an Environment-friendly and Renewable energy Resource. He exhorted that since fossil fuels will last as long as 80 years only, the world has to look for alternative sources of energy like hydropower, tidal power, biomass etc. He stressed on the efficient usage of energy to prevent its wastage and reduce the increasing gap between demand and supply.
Dr Twinkle Suri, Dean Students Welfare CLUJ formally welcomed the participants and stressed upon the need to conserve energy using it efficiently and reduce the demand on earth’s natural resources so that energy can be saved for future usage. She further stated that energy conservation is the foundation of energy independence.
The deliberation was followed by an illuminating interactive session where a lot of queries were raised about ways and measures to conserve energy for a better economy and also an eco-friendly environment.
The Deans of various faculties, Coordinators, Assistant Deans, Students Welfare, Dr Gitanjili Rajput and Dr Mansi Sharma, teaching fraternity of PGI Schools attended the webinar.
Dr Mandeep Singh, Tech-host coordinated the event and Dr Revika Arora, Cultural Coordinator CLUJ moderated the proceedings of the webinar while Dr Banpreet Kour Associate Dean, CLUJ presented formal vote of thanks.
