Pampore, July 18: Cloudbursts hit many areas of Pampore in Pulwama district this evening.
Sources said a cloudburst hit Woyan and Khrew areas of Pampore town this evening causing destruction in these areas.Scores of residential houses were reportedly damaged by flash waters. Paddy fields also suffered extensive damage and many bunds were breached.
The roads in these areas were submerged and some macadamized roads were cut.
A revenue team including ADC Pulwama Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza , Tehsildar Pampore Shahbaz Ahmad Bodha Naib Tehsildar Khrew Mohd Rajab, Naib Tehsildar Pampore Gh Mohi-ud-Din, Revenue Officer of Tehsil Pampore Mir Murawat Hussain and Pampore Police team rushed to the spot on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Neeraj Kumar and started rescue operation. Tractors and Tippers were pressed in to service to remove the debris and mud from the roads.
An eyewitness told that some elderly persons and a woman fell unconscious and many persons were seen weeping and wailing after the damage caused by the cloubdurst.
