JAMMU, Dec 10: Clerical cadre employees of various Government departments and Public Sector Undertakings, held protest demonstration  and dharna as a part of their  three day long pen down strike, at Exhibition Ground  near Press Club here today.
The employees and workers under the banner of Jammu Kashmir Ladakh All Departments Clerical Staff Association led by its president, Babu Hussain Malik assembled at Exhibition Ground here in the morning at  around 10 am and started protest demonstration. They were shouting slogans against the Government and also in favour of their demands.  Later, they sat on day long dharna.
Today was the third consecutive day of  their pen down strike. The agitating employees were demanding removal of anomalies in their pay grades, enhancement of  Medical Allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 2000 per month, conduct of DPC of their cadre twice a year, implementation of 7th Pay Commission report etc.
Several senior trade unionists including Bharat Bhushan,  Seva Ram Rathore, KA Diwani, Ashok Singh, Javed Akhoon, addressed the gathering and said that despite High Court directions,  the Government has failed to implement  the order in letter and spirit.
These striking employees are on agitating since long. The Government has failed to address their long pending issues. Even the Cabinet Sub Committee set up by the previous Government had given  recommendation in their favour but the same were not implemented by the Government.
With the strike in last three days, the work in many Government offices was affected. Similar protests  and dharnas were also reported  from  various district headquarters including, Kathua, Samba, Doda, Udhampur  and Rajouri.
