Class-IV aspirants protest in Srinagar

SRINAGAR, Nov 25: The class-IV aspirants today protested here, demanding the filling up of all 8575 posts that were advertised last year.
Scores of candidates gathered at the Press Enclave in Srinagar, demanding that the Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board issue a notification for pending vacant positions.
They said that the JKSSB advertised roughly 8575 class IV posts in Kashmir last year and that only 3000 of them have been filled so far.
“Last year, the JKSSB published a notice for 8555 class IV openings in the Valley. As a result, we took the tests on March 1st, and only one list has been released so far because the process was delayed due to a problem with graduate candidates who were found ineligible by the court”, an aspirant said.
He said that candidates were intended to be chosen in a 1:4 ratio, but JKSSB applied the ratio to the whole number of applications, which included graduates who were ruled ineligible for the posts.
They said that when they approached the JKSSB and the GAD for the remaining posts, they feigned helplessness.
They urged Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene in the case and rescue the futures of poor candidates.
