SRINAGAR, Mar 7: Three persons were injured as stone-throwing clashes erupted at Mahmudpora in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district during a cordon and search operation today.
Security forces including Army launched cordon and search operation at village Mahmudpora this afternoon after suspecting presence of militants. As the search operation was underway, locals came out of their houses and pelted stones on security forces involved in counter-insurgency operations.
Police fired several teargas canisters to disperse the stone-throwers in which three protesters including a woman were injured. All the injured persons are stated to be out of danger. Later, the operation was called off as no militant was found hiding in the village.
