Veeri for turning Custodian Deptt into income generating organization

JAMMU, Mar 7: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation and Reconstruction, Abdul Rehman Veeri today stressed on turning Custodian Department into a sustained revenue-generating organisation and called for proper mapping of the assets of the department.
The Minister was speaking at a high level review meeting of Custodian Department here which was attended by Commissioner Survey and Land Records Shahid Inaytullah, Commissioner Secretary Revenue Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Director Estates Dr G N Yatoo, Custodian Kashmir Bashir Ahmed Mir, Custodian Jammu, Mushtaq Hussain Malik, Deputy Custodian Central J&K Jeelani Rafique and other officers.
Veeri stressed on proper inventory of all the assets of the department and their classification for optimal use.
While highlighting the role of the department, Minister said that the department should not only safeguard its assets properly but should come out with innovative ideas for revenue generation out of these assets.
“The land at the prime locations can be used for maximum benefit of the department,” he said.
While taking exception to very less rent rates of custodian properties, Veeri asked the officers to inform him about each and every custodian property in the State which includes date of agreement, rent payment status and agreement status.
Veeri called upon the concerned functionaries to adopt pro-active approach to safeguard custodian properties in the State and emphasized for regular assessment of the evacuee property to ensure proper revenue realization as per the market rates. The Minister stressed on ensuring transparency and accountability in the functioning of the department.
Director Estates also informed the meeting that department is hiring some evacuee property.
