SRINAGAR, May 27: Clashes erupted in the Anchar area of Srinagar today after the city police chief along with other police officers visited the area.
The visit was aimed to inspect the implementation of COVID related SOPs and the imposition of Corona curfew to combat the second wave of Covid-19.
The officials who were on the visit included SSP Srinagar, SP Hazratbal besides other officers and held a meeting regarding the law-and-order problems and various crime issues in Police division Ahmad-Nagar.
After the culmination of the meeting, the police officials visited the shrine of Jinab Sahab located at Anchar to conduct guard checking and lockdown implementation there. “But miscreants who had already gathered near the shrine pelted stones on the police party,” the police officials said.
The police retaliated by firing some tear smoke shells to disperse the miscreants.
The latest reports stated that the situation returned to normal, however, the police have taken cognizance of the incident.
