KATHUA, July 11: Legal Metrological Department (LMD) Kathua today won a long pending case lodged in the Court of CJM Kathua. In Aug 2017, the Inspector Legal Metrology, Dayalachak, Prittam Salaria booked a ceiling fan manufacturer M/s Classic Electrical Appliances, Gangyal Jammu under Legal Metrology Act and Rules for mentioning inflated MRP using stickers over and above the original MRP.
The management of the company neither approached the Department nor made any correspondence for compounding the case despite repeated notices and reminders from the Department. Ultimately, the Assistant Controller, LMD Kathua, Kuldeep Raj lodged the case in the Court of CJM, Kathua for further legal action. Hearing both the parties the CJM Kathua held the company responsible for committing the offence and disposed of the case by imposing a fine of Rs.5000/- on the management of company.
