SRINAGAR, Sept 7: One person was killed and 13 others were injured as militants hurled a grenade at Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel at Jahangir Chowk in Srinagar this evening.
The grenade was hurled at the CRPF at busy market place which exploded on the road injuring 14 persons including a Traffic Police personnel. The grenade caused panic in the area and injured were removed to hospital.
Senior police officers reached the spot to assess the situation. However, the grenade thrower escaped.

A police spokesman said: “Terrorists today evening hurled a grenade at Jahangir Chowk, which exploded in the busy market, claiming one life and injuring about 13 persons.”
The spokesman said: “14 persons were injured in a terrorist attack, after they hurled a grenade at Jahangir Chowk. The injured were shifted to SMHS Hospital for treatment where one of the injured identified as Maqsood Ahmad Shah son of Ali Mohammad Shah resident of Budgam succumbed to his injuries.”
The Traffic Police personnel was shifted to Police Hospital, Srinagar for treatment. The investigation of the incident is going on.
